For extra security, the Destroyit 2240CC paper shredder will shred paper into tiny pieces no larger than 1"x1/8". The Destroyit 2240CC has a security level of "3".
Security level 3 means this shredder is designed specifically for shredding personal data and confidential documents.
It has a 5 to 6 sheet capacity at one time, so it is very efficient on top of being affordable. A large five-gallon bin capacity and smaller-sized debris means less time spent emptying your shredded materials.
In order to remove the shredder head from the bin, a convenient handle is provided. An automatic stop and start feature powered by a photo cell and an automatic shut-off in the case of a paper jam makes the Destroyit 2240 paper shredder a user-friendly "office assistant" if you will.
As a safety precaution, a separate sensor automatically shuts the shredder off if the head is removed from the base. A three-way rocker switch is also included for stand-by, stop and reverse functions.
With the Destroyit 2240 paper shredder, there is a solid 10-year warranty on the cutting head which means it has been built to last. A 1-year warranty is given on all other parts (excluding wearables).
The single-phase motor is quiet and is double protected against heat which seems to be a common frustration with many of the paper shredders on the market today.
It is important to note that a cross-cut paper shredder operates differently than a traditional paper shredder. Due to built-in timers, the document is shredded not only vertically, but also shredded horizontally at the same time.
Documents that are shredded with the cross-cut heads are very difficult to piece back together. As a result, cross-cut debris (which resembles confetti) is more secure and makes it very difficult for identity thieves to reconstruct your personal information.
One disadvantage of the cross-cut shredders is that they are not as quick as strip-cut shredders since additional cutting is involved. However, they still provide the extra security and therefore peace of mind, that sensitive data is ultimately destroyed.
